The Antica Badia Relais Hotel is located in the old town centre of Ragusa in a magnificent eighteen-century palace, just a twenty minutes walk from Ibla.

A few meters from San Giovanni’s square enjoys a spectacular views of the cathedral, its striking and fascinating atmosphere, its stairways and its labyrinthine corridors offers to its guests a privileged view of the past.

The palace was built by an influential family of Ragusa after the earthquake of 1693, thus following a neoclassical style. Later in 1821 the knight Schininà completed the work on their own stylistic canons of the early decades of the nineteenth century. A century later, the palace is purchased by Minardi Family, and it is in 1998 that Giovanni Minardi, heir to the family decides to give new life to the palace and turn it into a hotel, offering everyone the chance to breathe history, art and lived life.

The amples halls with Baroque frescoes, the staircases in typical stone-pitch and with inserts of pure white limestone and some ceramic of Caltagirone floors have been carefully preserved in the course of its restructuring.

The Antica Badia Relais Hotel offers 12 stylish and elegant rooms in which they are combined harmoniously vintage pieces from Sicily and from all over Europe and designer furniture. The rooms are finely decorated with chandeliers, quality fabrics, and some retain the original floors. All rooms are equipped with the latest technological additions.
