Having become a cult series of Italian television, “Il commissario Montalbano” has gone into the houses and into the hearts of thousands tv viewers, also foreign; so the places chosen as filming sets for the beloved series have become must see locations for visitors that love the vicissitudes of the introverted, smart and charming protagonist and appreciate the beauty that this part of Sicily has to offer.
The little and characteristics maritime village of Punta Secca (Marinella) is the main set location because it featured as the inspectors house, with its wonderful terrace overlooking the sea, it is now a very famous B&B. This little town is also famous for another thing: The sunset. In fact the people living in this area, meet in the main square to admire the sun diving into the golden waters of the Mediterranean Sea little by little.

Sampieri, Donnalucata and Marina di Ragusa have featured in the fiction too, also appearing in the new series “Montalbano da Giovane”.

Scicli hides a suggestive atmosphere, almost bohemian, among its streets you will find a mixture of the Baroque, beautiful little shops and some little art galleries. Its historic centre is also included in the list of human heritage sites, but the focus of the city is Mormini Penna Street, home of the City Hall that featured as the police station in the inspector Montalbano fiction, while the mayors office has been used as office of the police superintendent.

Donnafugata Castle is a place not to be missed, characterised by perfumed gardens and a stone labyrinth, immersed in the wonderful landscape of Ragusa country. The castle has been chosen to be the house of Boss Sinagra the location that the police superintendent visited him during an episode.

Stopping to taste the typical Sicilian arancino at castle trattoria will be a real pleasure for your palate.

Walking among characteristic baroque streets of di Ragusa Ibla (Vigata) is an obligation. Allow yourself to be charmed by traditional flavours with food tasting at Fagotto, the wonderful filming location of “Il cane di terracotta”, “Gatto e cardellino”, “La pista di sabbia”, “La pazienza del ragno” and “Ritorno alle origini” episodes.
